Consignments
We sell instruments on consignment and would be happy to accept yours. If you're looking to sell an instrument, there are many good reasons why you should consider placing it on consignment:
- We are open 7 days a week. Customers can come in and try out your instrument any time that they want. You don't have to make an appoiuntment with a stranger you met through Craigslist and worry about rescheduling the meeting if something comes up.
- You can trust us, and customers can trust us. We've been in business since 1962 and have a solid reputation. We're consistently voted the best music store in our local area, but we're known worldwide as well. Instruments we make, repair and sell are used by some of the world's most respected musicians and performers. Potential buyers can deal with us and not have to worry that a private seller might be trying to rip them off.
- In addition to the traffic that our physical store receives, your instrument will also be seen on our website, which expands your potential market far beyond the local area. We sell and ship to every corner of the globe, so your instrument can benefit from worldwide exposure.
Here's how our consignment process works:
Step 1:
There are two ways you can start the consignment process with us:
- Bring your instrument or amp to our store for us to inspect/try out/test/etc.
- OR
- Send us photos and basic information about your instrument using our online consignment form.
Step 2:
Once we have determined the condition of the instrument and verified that it is in working order, we will assist you in setting a selling price and filling out a consignment agreement. (We will also advise you on the best way to pack and ship the instrument to us if you have used the online consignment form in step 1 above.)
If your instrument is not in good condition and would need some work done to make it suitable for consignment, we can give you a free repair estimate.
We also offer a basic consignment restoration service for $25 that includes:
- Restringing and tuning
- Polishing
- Tightening the tuners
- Cleaning electronics (if applicable)
Step 3:
Your instrument will go on display in our showroom and on our website. You can leave it with us for as long as you like, but we do have a 60-day minimum period.
Step 4:
When your instrument sells, we will keep 25% of the agreed-upon price before taxes and you will get the remaining 75%.
If your instrument does not sell, and you have shipped your instrument to us from out-of-town, you will be responsible for return shipping charges.
