Here's your chance to get a private lesson from a guitarist known as a "master of all things Americana." Eric Sommer has shared the stage with the best: Leon Redbone, Dr. John, John Hammond, Little Feat, The Byrds, Jerry Douglas, the Old 97s, Built to Spill and many, many more. And on Saturday, August 28, he will be available for private, one-on-one lessons at Herb David Guitar Studio.

Lessons need to be reserved in advance by calling toll-free at 877-665-8001. The cost is $75 for a one-hour lesson.

Eric will also give a free performance at Liberty Plaza in downtown Ann Arbor from noon to 2:00 p.m. (In case you don't know, Liberty Plaza is on E Liberty St. between S 5th Ave. and S Division St., just a block from our store.) Live Music at Liberty Plaza

It's summertime, and that means it's time for live music at Liberty Plaza in downtown Ann Arbor. Grab your lunch, have a seat in the shade, and enjoy some local home-grown tunes! Bands start at noon and play until 2:00 p.m., so there's plenty of time to take a break during the day and catch a great show.

In case you don't know, Liberty Plaza is on E Liberty St. between S 5th Ave. and S Division St. Here's a map if you need it. (And feel free to stop by our store when the show is over -- we're right down the block!)

Fingerstyle Guitar Performance:
Tim Thompson with Myles Thompson

Nashville-based fingerstyle guitarist Tim Thompson turned up in our store on October 9 for a great performance. Tim is the 2008 International Fingerstyle Guitar Champion, and his 15-year-old son Myles (who joined him on the fiddle) is pretty talented too.
