Funny t-shirts have been around for decades, offering people a way to express themselves and show off their sense of humor. From slogan tees to meme culture, funny t-shirts have evolved significantly over the years, becoming a popular form of self-expression.  

Slogan Tees 

Slogan tees were the first type of funny jersey to hit the market. These shirts featured catchy phrases or messages that were meant to be humorous, often poking fun at pop culture or societal norms. Slogan t-shirts were a popular way to express oneself during the 1980s and 90s, and they’re still popular today.

Meme Culture 

In the early 2000s, the internet began to take off and online memes were born. Memes are humorous images, videos, or texts that are often shared and spread quickly across the internet. Meme culture has become increasingly popular, and it’s reflected in the funny t-shirts of today. Now, there are t-shirts that feature popular memes, such as “Success Kid,” or “Bad Luck Brian.”  

Customization 

The internet has also made it possible for people to customize their own funny t-shirts. Sites like Zazzle and Redbubble allow users to upload their own images, or choose from a variety of templates, to create a unique t-shirt. This has opened up an entirely new market for funny t-shirts, as now people can create shirts with their own inside jokes or messages.
